Impact of Technology in Education Introduction Technology is one of the concerns I have as a new teacher. Technology affects all aspects of our lives. The classroom is no exception. I do not consider myself to be one of those tech savvy people who can incorporate the latest program or gadget into my lessons. At home I often announce â€Å"technology free† days just so we can get back in touch with the important things in life, or the thing I consider important. I can’t do that in the classroom, I will have to do the complete opposite. When teaching in today’s classrooms, educators have to make every effort to keep up with the latest trends, learn the newest programs, and be able to utilize all they can in order to reach all kinds of†¦show more content†¦Teachers must also keep in mind the standards set up by the state when they are planning instruction and assessment. â€Å"They complain about having to teach to the tests, leaving them little time to try new ways of engaging students. And in some states, teachers are evaluated based on those very scores† (Baresghian). For teachers, the idea of being judged on scores from standardized testing can be overwhelming and discouraging when preparing new lessons. I am not a big fan of the standardized testing because I believe children are individuals and don’t all respond well to the â€Å"bubble test†. As with anything else there are pros and cons. There are people lobbying to reform testing, and there are people who propose boycotting the tests. The article links to a Facebook group called Parents and Kids Against Standardized Testing. This site has many links interesting with varying opinions on testing in general. In the article, â€Å"Beyond the Bubble Test†, it was announced that a new technology-based assessment will replace the standardized bubble tests. There are high expectations associated with the new test. â€Å"If done correctly, the shift from pencil-and-paper to online assessments will build upon this opportunity to transform the nation’s education system and provide a platform for new approaches to learning and schooling, not just in testing† (Baresghian). American Express works with both consumers and business with their financial planning as well as offers numerous amounts of credit card products and travel assistance. They have many products and services that are used throughout the world by consumers and businesses. As American Express moves towards the future, like most credit card companies, they want to be competitive and responsive to the needs of the consumer. American Express sends out customer service surveys to the card members that call in to the telephone service center. The surveys are sent out randomly with a coding on the bottom of the survey so that the results and comments are given back to the correct employee. The employees are aware that any card member that they speak to could receive a survey. With this said, each employee goes through extensive training on the telephone behaviors that must be demonstrated while speaking to card members. The employees also go through extensive training on the policies and procedures that each card product and service has. This training is to ensure that each card member is handled with the most utmost professional behavior and their issues are handled correctly. Once the surveys are returned to the company, they are returned to the Customer Satisfaction Action Team. This team reviews the surveys, separates them by employee and then by the results.. The results are separated by Excellent and Very Good and then Fair and Poor marks.
